Three Vietnamese fruits named among Southeast Asia’s Top 26
VOV.VN - Ben Tre coconuts, Hoa Loc mangoes from Tien Giang, and dragon fruit from Phan Thiet have been named among Southeast Asia’s 26 best fruits, according to the international culinary website TasteAtlas.

Among them, Ben Tre coconuts earned the highest recognition, ranking fifth on the list.
TasteAtlas highlighted the importance of coconut trees to both the cultural and economic life of the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre. The website noted that the region’s coconuts benefit from “salty water found in clay mud which makes it both fertile and rich,” resulting in a higher yield and superior quality compared to other areas.
The coconuts here are known for their thick shells rich in organic matter, sweeter water, and creamier, fattier meat.
“The coconut oil accounts for 65% of content in Ben Tre coconuts. The fruit is used to make a lot of things, from beverages and food to household utensils,” TasteAtlas said.

Hoa Loc mangoes, ranked eighth, are considered the most famous mango variety of the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang. Elongated in shape with bright yellow skin when ripe, they are prized for their fragrant aroma and exceptionally sweet taste.

Phan Thiet dragon fruit also made the list thanks to its vibrant color and clean, naturally sweet flavor. Originally grown for ancestral offerings, the fruit quickly proved its economic value.
Today, dragon fruit farms in the southern city of Phan Thiet span thousands of hectares.
“Many restaurants in the area offer dragon fruit menus filled with different dishes – from appetizers, main dishes, and side dishes to drinks and desserts,” TasteAtlas added.
