TasteAtlas selects Bánh Mì among Top 10 best rated street food in Asia

VOV.VN - TasteAtlas, a website dedicated to highlighting fresh ingredients, traditional dishes, and authentic restaurants worldwide, has ranked the Vietnamese baguette, known locally as bánh mì, seventh among the best-rated street foods in Asia.

According to the website, Bánh Mì is a popular type of sandwich made with a baguette as its core ingredient. The baguette was originally introduced to Vietnam during the colonial period and remains one of the few enduring culinary legacies from that era.

“In the beginning, most Bánh Mì sandwiches consisted of bread, meat, and seasonings, with no added vegetables,” says TasteAtlas. Topping the latest TasteAtlas ranking is guotie from China-a pan-fried variety of the northern Chinese jiaozi dumpling typically filled with minced pork, Chinese cabbage, scallions, ginger, rice wine, and sesame oil.

Second and third places went to siomay from Indonesia and parotta from India.

Other dishes featured in the Top 10 include Amritsari kulcha (India), Ohn no khao swè (Myanmar), shawarma (Lebanon), batagor (Indonesia), siu mei (China), and sate kambing (Indonesia).
