Sanguine prospects for Russia - Vietnam tourism in 2025
VOV.VN - With the number of tourists travelling between Vietnam and Russia growing impressively last year, there are positive signs ahead for tourism cooperation between the two countries.
TASS news agency recently quoted the Office of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko as saying that the Russian Government has recorded reliable growth in the number of tourists from Russia heading to Vietnam, and that the Vietnam is one of the most sought-after destinations in Southeast Asia for tourists from this market.
Statistics indicate that 232,300 Russian holidaymakers travelled to Vietnam last year, representing a sharp rise of nearly 85% compared to the previous year.
Meanwhile, the number of Vietnamese tourists heading to Russia in the first nine months of the year surged by 25.4% thanks to a convenient electronic visa system, a rise in flight frequency, and the implementation of diverse tourism promotional activities.
At present, two Russian airlines are launching flights to Vietnam, including direct flights between Hanoi and Irkutsk with a frequency of two flights per week, as well as direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Moscow with a frequency of three flights per week.
Furthermore, a number of charter flights have also brought more Russian tourists to Phu Quoc and Nha Trang.
According to the Russian Deputy Prime Minister's Office, Russian companies are ready to work alongside Vietnamese airlines.
Recently, an alliance of Let's Go Russia and PATTOURS co-hosted a tourism promotion scheme to boost tourism cooperation between both sides over the coming years.
Bui Lan Huong, director of a tourism firm under the Russian Association of Travel Agencies, revealed that from March 1, Russia will deploy national projects with the goal of upgrading the service and accommodation system in order to serve up to 140 million tourists across Russia in a year.
Huong noted that many Vietnamese travel firms had already signed contracts with airlines to bring additional Russian tourists to Vietnam this year.
Moreover, the Russian Government and the Russian Association of Travel Agencies will co-organise activities to promote joint tourism in Ho Chi Minh City, along with similar programmes in various countries such as Thailand and India.
According to insiders, in addition to traditional Russian tourism products to Moscow and St. Petersburg, Vietnamese tourists will have more options in the spring and winter this year with a journey to visit other popular destinations, including, Rostov, Plyos, Yaroslavl, Irkutsk and Vladivostok.
Most notably, the longest tour is anticipated to take travelers to 10 cities in the northeast of Russia, while some 15-day Russian tours will provide visitors with experiences on a luxury cruise ship.
