RoK removes Vietnam from high-risk list for COVID-19 pandemic

VOV.VN - The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) announced on March 31 that it has removed Vietnam from its list of countries at high risk of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision came after the KDCA analysed the various risks of different nations and the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases when entering RoK.

Together with Vietnam, two other countries – Myanmar and Ukraine – also benefitted from the decision.

The RoK agency on March 18 listed Vietnam among the countries subject to strengthened medical supervision as part of its measures to combat the pandemic.

Following the latest changes, from April 1 travelers from Vietnam who have either been vaccinated against COVID-19 or remain unvaccinated, will have to undergo a mandatory seven-day quarantine. In addition, flights from Vietnam to the RoK will be allowed to carry passengers equivalent to only 60% of their overall capacity.

Jeong Eun-kyeong, director of the KDCA, said that the RoK plans to flexibly operate a system of assessing countries eligible for COVID-19 quarantine exemption through monitoring their pandemic risk level and subsequently making proper adjustments.
