Vietnam removed from German COVID-19 pandemic high-risk list

VOV.VN - Germany’s Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced on March 1 that it has removed a total of 60 areas at high risk of the COVID-19 pandemic, including Vietnam.

The decision means travelers won’t be subject to stricter entry rules when travelling to Germany.

Vietnam had been classified as one of the areas at high risk of the COVID-19 pandemic since August 15, 2021. Accordingly, travelers flying to Germany were required to conduct PCR tests, complete online entry medical declarations, and follow a 10-day quarantine rule upon arrival.

According to the RKI, with the Omicron variant becoming more common, the life-threatening potential of the variant is shown to be less severe compared to the dominant variants previously. As a result, there are no more countries or regions which can be considered at high risk of the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning there’s no need to complete medical declarations or undergo isolation requirements after entering Germany.

Germany maintains that the 3G rule still applies - tested, vaccinated, or recovered - for all countries. Those who have not been vaccinated or have not recovered from the COVID-19 pandemic must therefore test negative for COVID-19 before being permitted to enter Germany.

This regulation will take effect from March 3.
