Quang Tri enhances new air links with China ahead of major tourism events

VOV.VN- A delegation from Quang Tri province and representatives of Vietnam’s aviation sector are visiting China to promote new air routes to Dong Hoi in central Vietnam with a view to attracting international visitors ahead of major tourism events in 2026 and the National Tourism Year 2027.

Led by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Hoang Xuan Tan, the delegation attended a Vietnam-China aviation and tourism connectivity programme in Shanghai, organised by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and Vietnam Airlines.

The event featured the participation of representatives of Vietnamese and Chinese travel and aviation companies, including leading travel firms and charter operators.

Participants discussed opportunities to strengthen aviation connectivity and explore the launch of new routes linking Shanghai and other Chinese cities with destinations in Vietnam through airports operated by ACV.

At the event, Hoang Xuan Tan highlighted Quang Tri’s socio-economic potential and tourism advantages. He noted that the province offers a diverse range of attractions, including historical and peace tourism sites, coastal destinations, high-end resorts and golf facilities. He also highlighted Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO-recognised destination known for its extensive cave system, including Son Doong Cave, the world’s largest cave.

He also introduced a series of upcoming tourism events. Quang Tri will host the “For Peace” Festival in 2026, while the province has been selected to host Vietnam’s National Tourism Year in 2027, with a range of internationally oriented activities planned.

Through the programme, Quang Tri authorities expressed their hope of working hand in hand with airlines and tourism partners to develop new routes to Dong Hoi in the near future, helping attract international visitors ahead of the major events.

Representatives of Chinese travel companies said they were impressed by Quang Tri’s tourism potential and expressed interest in its tourism products. They also proposed organising familiarisation trips (famtrips) to explore local destinations and develop tourism products, paving the way for the launch of direct flights from China in the future.
