Quang Ninh welcomes over 2,300 Chinese cruise tourists
VOV.VN - Quang Ninh city welcomed more than 2,300 Chinese tourists arriving aboard the Dream Cruise ship at Ha Long International Cruise Port on October 13 for local cultural and culinary tours.
Following their arrival, passengers toured Ha Long Bay and the Quang Ninh Museum while participating in excursions exploring the local landscape, heritage, and daily life. The repeated arrival of the Dream Cruise reflects the destination's attractiveness and the sustainability of its international cruise routes.
The port is scheduled to welcome another vessel, the Viking Venus, carrying approximately 800 passengers at 8:00 a.m. on October 14, with departure set for 2:30 p.m. on October 15. The consecutive arrival of major cruise ships demonstrates steady momentum in Quang Ninh’s cruise tourism sector, providing an influx of visitors for local attractions and services.
From now through the end of 2026, Ha Long International Cruise Port expects to receive about 30 international cruise ships, with 14 port calls registered for December alone. Fleet sizes range from ships carrying a few hundred passengers to vessels serving over 2,000 guests, allowing the province to cater to diverse market segments.
Bui Quang Tuan, Executive Director of the Ha Long International Cruise Port Branch, said that the port has received numerous bookings from European and Asian cruise operators, concentrated heavily from late October through November and extending into February next year. He added that port management is coordinating with tour operators and management agencies to streamline procedures for cruise passengers to access local tours and bolster visitor numbers.
Leveraging the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site of Ha Long Bay and Vietnam's purpose-built international cruise port, Quang Ninh holds strong advantages in attracting international cruise lines. This high-spending tourist segment helps boost tourism revenues, encourage high-quality services, and maximize economic value per visitor arrival.
