Low-cost Korean carrier opens direct route to Vietnam

VOV.VN - On April 9, the Republic of Korea’s low cost carrier Air Seoul announced that it will open a direct air route to the central Vietnamese city of Danang next month as part of its plans to expand services throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

A spokesperson of Air Seoul said the first flight carrying passengers will take off on May 18, using a 195 seat A321. The airline is using a leased fleet of six A321s, including two 220 seat aircraft and four 195 seat planes which will conduct flights to Japan, Cambodia, Hong Kong (China), and Guam, a territory of the US.

Vietnam and the Republic of Korea have witnessed productive people-to-people exchange activities in recent times. The steady improvement of people’s living standards and income levels has created an abundant source of passengers for airlines of both nations.

At present, the Vietnamese community in the ROK exceeds 160,000 while the number of Korean people in Vietnam stands at about 150,000.

The figures tend to increase in accordance with stronger developments in bilateral ties between the two countries in multiple fields.
