Lao Airlines to resume Vientiane-Da Nang air service from March 29
VOV.VN - Lao Airlines, the national flag carrier of Laos, is scheduled to reopen direct air route from the capital of Vientiane to Da Nang, a major tourist destination in central Vietnam, from March 29.
According to Laos Airlines, it will operate two flights per week between Vientiane and Da Nang every Thursday and Sunday, using the COMAC C909 aircraft configured with 90 economy-class seats. Flight time is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Flight QV317 will depart from Vientiane (VTE) at 11:20 and arrive in Da Nang (DAD) at 12:40; and flight QV318 will depart from Da Nang at 13:50 and land in Vientiane at 15:10.
Tickets are sold at Lao Airlines’ ticket offices in Laos, through authorized agents, as well as on the airline's website and app. Round-trip fares for flights in April 2026 will be listed from approximately US$290.
Before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the airline operated the route using ATR-72 aircraft with a stopover in Pakse in southern Laos. In 2023, it briefly launched a non-stop Vientiane–Da Nang service using the Airbus A320 but later suspended operations due to slow post-pandemic demand recovery.
The resumption of the route is considered more aligned with market conditions, as the 90-seat C909 offers a capacity between the previously deployed 70-seat ATR-72 and the 148-seat A320, allowing for better load factor optimisation.
Da Nang, which is home to famous beach resorts, is a favourite place among foreign tourists to relax. The central coastal city targets to welcome around 19 million tourists this year.
Many tourists from the Republic of Korea and China view Da Nang as a transit point and seek short-haul connections to regional destinations such as Luang Prabang or Vientiane. Lao Airlines expects this international traffic segment to help improve seat occupancy on the revived route.
