Lao Airlines to resume direct flights to Da Nang

VOV.VN - Lao Airlines, the national flag carrier of Laos, is scheduled to resume regular commercial flights from Vientiane capital to Da Nang (central Vietnam) from March 30 following a two-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 outbreak.

The Lao airline will operate two flights per week between Vientiane and Da Nang every Thursday and Saturday.

Noudeng Chanthaphasouk, commercial director of Lao Airlines, said that the Vientiane - Da Nang route had been hugely popular among tourists before the COVID-19 pandemic and the resumption of this route will serve to meet the increasing demand of travelers in the region after post-pandemic travel restrictions were lifted.

Lao Airlines will use A320 aircraft for the route with a flight time of one hour and 15 minutes. A round-trip ticket costs around LAK4.8 million, equivalent to US$290.

According to the Lao media, Da Nang, which is home to famous beach resorts, is a favourite place among tourists from Japan, China, and the Republic of Korea to relax. Travelers will be able to easily extend their journey by taking advantage of a short trip from Da Nang to Laos where they can discover the natural beauty and world heritage sites on offer there.

Chanthaphasouk noted that Vientiane-Da Nang is an important route for Lao tourism as it not only helps to revive tourism in Laos but also serves to strengthen Laos' connection with the rest of the region and rejuvenates their economy.

Earlier Lao Airlines had resumed flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City after the Lao government reopened the door to international tourism on May 9, 2022.
