Kayaking resumes in Ha Long Bay as of May 1

Mr Long said the Committee has authorized kayak rentals at the eight venues of – Ba Hang, Luon Cave, Dong Tien Lake, Trinh Nu Cave, Vung Tung Sau, Cua Van, Vong Vieng, Cong Do and Hang Co.

He noted the kayaking rental businesses are responsible for the safety of their operations, must register with appropriate authorities and sign a contract with the Ha Long Bay Management Board before they can legally operate.

In late March, the Committee stopped all kayaking in the bay area due to safety concerns and concern over the excessively high fees that were charged. However, the decision has been reversed due to strong objections of tourists.
