Ho Chi Minh City boosts tourism with themed culinary tours

VOV.VN -The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism on August 19 held a conference to launch the 2025 Tourism Promotion Plan, with a view to enhancing the southern hub’s appeal as a leading cultural, culinary, leisure, and experiential destination in Vietnam.

For this year, the city’s tourism sector has set a target of welcoming 10 million international visitors, 50 million domestic travelers, and generating total revenue of VND290 trillion.

Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, said the sector is accelerating the adoption of technology and digital transformation to create distinctive and innovative experiences for visitors.

She noted that the department will continue working with the local business community and technology platforms to build a diverse and convenient service ecosystem, making the journey of exploring Ho Chi Minh City seamless and uniquely memorable.

In particular, the city’s tourism industry will highlight its culinary heritage through partnerships with technology platforms, including the “Culinary Passport” programme, an interactive smart tool that allows visitors to discover and “check in” on unique culinary journeys.

The Department of Tourism is also collaborating with travel businesses to design themed culinary tours showcasing traditional dishes, specialty restaurants, and new gastronomic experiences.

On this occasion, the department announced a cooperation programme with online tourism platforms, rolling out a campaign to promote city destinations on digital channels. Under the initiative, a package of e-vouchers worth more than VND4 billion will be offered to travelers booking flights and hotel rooms in Ho Chi Minh City through the partnered apps and websites.

The scheme is supported by numerous businesses in the city’s tourism ecosystem, including airlines offering discounted fares, premium hotels and resorts, specialty restaurants, and wellness, spa, and beauty service providers. Together, they aim to deliver a comprehensive and memorable experience for visitors.
