HCM City welcomes 221,000 visitors during Tet

VOV.VN - The number of visitors flooding to HCM City is estimated to reach over 221,000 during the Lunar New Year festival (Tet), up 15% over 2018, according to statistics from HCM City Department of Tourism.

During Tet, tourism sites in the southern economic hub have upgraded their facilities as well as offering an array of interesting activities to serve tourists.

The accommodation establishments in the city have operated at full capacity (between 75% and 80%), equivalent to last year’s figure. The average room rates have been stable and slightly increased compared to other months during the peak period.

Nguyen Thi Anh Hoa, deputy director of HCM City Department of Tourism said, with a tourism stimulus program, the tourism sector is expected to earn a revenue of more than VND150 trillion this year.

The city aims to welcome 8.5 million foreign arrivals and more than 32 domestic visitors this year, up 14% and 13% respectively, Ms Hoa noted.
