HCM City unveils major tourism promotion progrmames for 2024
VOV.VN - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam’s southern largest economic hub, has recently announced a list of major tourism promotion programmes for 2024 targeting local and overseas markets.
They include the 10th Ao Dai (long dress) Festival, the 20th Tourism Day, the second River Festival, the fourth Tourism Week, and the 11th International Marathon that will be held in March, April, June, and December.
A major highlight will be the 18th International Travel Expo due to take place on September 5-7. The annual international tourism event aims to strengthen cooperation and cohesion of five countries in the lower Mekong River basin - Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
For overseas markets, it is expected that there will be six tourism promotion programmes to be deployed in countries such as Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Singapore, and Australia.
Over the past years, Ho Chi Minh City’s overseas tourism promotion programmes have been highly appreciated by businesses for bringing about practical results as they serve as a bridge to support connections between local and foreign reputable tourism businesses.
Last year, Ho Chi Minh City announced nearly 50 tourism products, with 20 new ones for medium- and high-class segments. It welcomed nearly 5 million foreign and nearly 35 million domestic tourists, accounting for 40% and 32% of the country’s respective total numbers.
The city aims to receive six million foreign and 38 million local holidaymakers in 2024.
