Hai Phong promotes tourism on international stage

Hai Phong city is ramping up efforts to showcase its tourism potential to international markets, with a particular focus on North America.

Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the municpal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that in 2025, the northern port city will continue promoting its image and renowned tourist destinations through international media channels, including advertising the Cat Ba World Natural Heritage Site on US-based multinational news channel CNN.

A Hollywood film crew from the US has chosen Cat Ba as a location for their upcoming film project, following discussions with Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on March 10. Cat Ba has also emerged as the most-searched destination in Vietnam on Agoda during the first two months of 2025, indicating the archipelago's rising popularity among international tourists.

In addition, Do Son remains one of Hai Phong’s standout tourist destinations, drawing approximately one-third of the city’s total visitors each year. The coastal district aims to welcome over 4.5 million tourists this year, with key attractions including beach resorts and spiritual tourism sites.

The city targets over 10 million visitors in 2025, including more than 1 million international arrivals. In the first two months of the year, it welcomed over 1.1 million tourists, of whom 150,000 were foreigners.

To capitalise on its tourism potential, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has assigned specific tasks to its specialised units and plans to consult experts and businesses for innovative tourism development strategies.

Hai Phong offers a variety of tourist accommodations, with hotels, villas, apartments, guesthouses and cruise ships. It has around 600 restaurants serving international cuisines from various countries like Italy, France, the US, Japan, and the Republic of Korea.
