Gia Lai chosen to host Vietnam National Tourism Year 2026
VOV.VN - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has officially selected the central province of Gia Lai as the host of the National Tourism Year 2026.
According to the Ministry’s decision dated November 11, the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism will coordinate with the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to complete all necessary procedures and implement activities for the National Tourism Year 2026, ensuring that the event is practical, effective, and far-reaching.
Hosting the National Tourism Year presents a major opportunity to promote Vietnam’s tourism image in general and Gia Lai’s attractions in particular to both domestic and international visitors.
As one of the country’s most significant annual cultural, economic, and social events, the National Tourism Year aims to highlight Vietnam’s culture, tourism potential, and unique local products.
Nguyen Thi Kim Chung, Deputy Director of the Gia Lai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the province will develop an overall plan, establish an organising committee, and launch a series of cultural and tourism events lasting from January to December 2026.
During a recent working trip to Gia Lai, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung highlighted that after administrative expansion, the province now enjoys a much broader space for tourism development.
He suggested Gia Lai focus on building new tourism products connecting its signature attractions, such as Bien Ho (T’Nung Lake), natural rock formations, and pristine forests, while identifying core tourism offerings that align with the province’s unique strengths.
“The development of tourism must be based on cultural foundations,” the Minister stressed. “Gia Lai should create a modern ecosystem that integrates culture, sports, and tourism, embodying the spirit of the great Central Highlands and the blue seas.”
With its majestic landscapes, distinctive gong culture, and hospitable people, Gia Lai is expected to become a major tourism highlight of Vietnam in 2026, contributing to promoting the image of a dynamic, friendly, and culturally rich Vietnam to the world.
