Investors commit US$4.7bln to Gia Lai at investment promotion conference

VOV.VN - The Central Highlands province of Gia Lai hosted its 2025 Investment Promotion Conference in Pleiku Ward on August 29, attracting strong commitments from both domestic and foreign enterprises with a total pledged capital of US$4.7 billion.

At the event, 69 projects were granted investment approvals, licenses, or memoranda of understanding (MoUs). Of these, 27 received investment decisions and certificates, with a combined registered capital of more than VND26.4 trillion (over US$1 billion). These projects focus on key sectors such as industry, industrial park infrastructure, renewable energy, and health care.

In addition, 42 projects were signed under MoUs, with planned investments exceeding VND93.4 trillion (nearly US$3.6 billion). These include large-scale initiatives in renewable energy, agriculture, aquaculture, livestock farming, and agro-processing. Notably, the high-tech agricultural zone project in Chu Se is expected to become a flagship model, integrating advanced technology while supporting farmers and cooperatives.

Gia Lai also outlined a clear development orientation. The eastern region of the province will prioritise manufacturing, cultural tourism, renewable energy, and logistics, while the western region will centre on large-scale specialised farming, renewable energy projects under Vietnam’s Power Development Plan VIII, and the Le Thanh International Border Gate Economic Zone to strengthen cross-border value chains with Cambodia.

Addressing the conference, Dr. Tran Du Lich, member of the National Monetary Policy Advisory Council, emphasised that Gia Lai’s strongest appeal lies not merely in tax or land incentives, but in the capacity of its governance system to act as a true partner to investors.

Provincial Chairman Pham Anh Tuan reaffirmed Gia Lai’s determination to improve the business environment by assigning performance indicators (KPIs) to government departments and local authorities, alongside strictly handling any cases of bureaucratic harassment toward businesses.

“We want both enterprises and government agencies to commit to concrete actions that deliver sustainable results,” he stressed.

With US$4.7 billion in committed investment, Gia Lai is positioning itself as a strategic destination for investors in the Central Highlands, signaling its ambition to achieve a breakthrough in regional development.
