Foreign media reveals best things to do in Hoi An
VOV.VN - Bangkok-based writer Vichayuth Chantan has published an article on Life Style Asia, suggesting a number of the best things to do when visiting Hoi An Old Town in Vietnam’s central Quang Nam province.
According to the author, compared to the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City or the central city of Da Nang, Hoi An seems to be quite underrated.
“It’s a charming city packed full of interesting history and architecture. It’s one of those places where you don’t feel the need to pack your itinerary to the brim — no guilt in wanting to spend some time by the pool, wake up a bit late, and take a walk down to the old town later,” she wrote in the article.
Chantan suggested that tourists should spend an afternoon at NOX Beach Club where they can sample delicious Vietnamese classics such as phở (instant noodles) or bánh mì (sandwich), authentic Mediterranean delights, Argentinean steakhouse experience, and a range of signature cocktails at the bar.
The author also suggested that tourists should take a stroll through the Hoi An Old Town, which has been recognised as one of the UNESCO World Heritage sites since 1999.
“When you walk through the town, you’ll find yourself surrounded by interesting architecture that is a direct result of the city’s history being a melting pot of cultures,” she noted.
“Wooden Chinese-style temples and shophouses adorn the street, with French colonial buildings with colourful exteriors to admire. As canals cut through the city, you’ll also find a Japanese bridge complete with a pagoda. The canal is where tourists board little rowing boats, which many argue is the best way to tour the lantern-lit city,” Chantan added.
She stressed that visitors also should not miss out on the braised spiced pork noodle (cao lau) which is the city’s signature dish and perfectly paired with a cold beer.
Moreover, the Bangkok-based writer also recommended several popular spots and interesting activities to do in Hoi An, such as staying and relaxing by the gorgeous pool at New World Hoiana Beach Resort, enjoying the charming hospitality at Mezcal Cocteleria, taking part in the monthly Hoi An Lantern Festival, and learning about the region’s history through museums.
