First direct flight from Macao lands in Gia Lai, boosting local tourism

VOV.VN - Bamboo Airways flight QH9585 landed at Phu Cat Airport on October 25, 2026, carrying 183 passengers on the first-ever direct air route connecting Macao, China, with Quy Nhon in Gia Lai province.

Local officials, including Nguyen Thi Thanh Lich, Vice Chairwoman of the Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee, alongside representatives from FLC Group and Bamboo Airways, welcomed the delegation upon arrival.

The passengers began a five-day, four-night itinerary exploring Quy Nhon and Pleiku, with accommodations provided at FLC Quy Nhon and the LUVIAF Quy Nhon Hotel.

A representative from Bamboo Airways stated that the successful flight lays the groundwork for expanding international routes to Quy Nhon, supporting local efforts to enhance air connectivity and promote regional tourism.

The new route highlights the upgrading of infrastructure at Phu Cat Airport. Following the operation of the new T2 terminal, the airport will officially open its second international-standard runway on October 29, 2026, coinciding with the arrival of the next Bamboo Airways flight from Macao.
