Domestic airlines to increase flights during coming holiday period

VOV.VN - Vietnamese airlines have worked out plans to increase flights to meet the high travel demand during the upcoming five-day holiday period and the summer peak season of 2025, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.

Accordingly, Vietnamese airlines will operate 7,536 additional flights, an average increase of 24% compared to regular flight schedules. They will provide approximately 1.5 million seats, marking a 20% increase compared to the original flight schedule and 22% more than the same period in 2024.

Flights to and from Ho Chi Minh City will account for the largest share, with 5,083 flights and a capacity of 1.03 million seats. For the Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route, airlines plan to operate 1,261 flights, offering 305,000 seats, a 7% increase from the initial schedule and 11% higher than the same period in 2024.

The Civil Aviation Authority noted that airlines have added nearly 10 more aircraft compared to last year, bringing the total fleet to nearly 200 aircraft.

The demand for travel, especially by air, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays is always high. Late April to early May marks the beginning of summer, making it an ideal time for beach vacations or resort getaways.

This year Vietnamese people will have five days off work, and families, groups of friends, and companies often organize trips to famous destinations such as Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Lat, Sapa, and Con Dao. Those working in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City prefer air travel for its speed and convenience over buses or trains.

Many Vietnamese travelers take this opportunity to go abroad, especially to nearby destinations like Thailand, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and China.

To ensure a smooth journey for this holiday period, travelers are advised to book tickets early, plan their trips carefully, and arrive at the airport well in advance to avoid the risk of missing flights.
