Da Nang unveils plans to attract more holiday-makers this year

VOV.VN - The tourism sector of the central city of Da Nang has intensified its promotion and marketing efforts to attract more tourists from key target markets and to continue diversifying sources of international travelers.

According to the municipal Tourism Department, a famtrip delegation made up of 25 representatives from travel agencies in the Philippines went on a fact-finding tour to Da Nang from January 10 to 13 to explore local tourism products.

Another famtrip delegation from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is visiting Da Nang from January 13 to 20 in an effort to help promote local images to international friends.

These vibrant activities in early 2025 provided opportunities for Da Nang to access and tap into tourists from those international markets, especially from the Philippines and CIS countries, helping to further boost local tourism globally.

Last year witnessed Da Nang welcome approximately 10.9 million visitors, up 32.8% year on year. Of this figure, the number of international visitors to the central city reached a record high, at more than 4.1 million arrivals, or an increase of 36.3% over 2023.

Among them, the Philippines was one of the important markets with 80,000 arrivals, an eight-fold rise compared to 2023.

Meanwhile, with stable economic development and increasing tourism demand, CIS makes up one of the main potential markets for Da Nang’s tourism sector.

The central coastal city is set to serve 11.9 million tourists, including 4.8 million foreigners, in 2025, annual increases of 10% and 17%, respectively.

The local tourism sector plans to actively carry out promotion activities abroad and also strive to offer new and quality experiences to travelers throughout the year.

Apart from traditional markets like Southeast Asian countries, the Republic of Korea, and China, Da Nang will expand its reach to potential markets such as India and Australia.

To this end, the municipal Tourism Department will send delegations to take part in the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meeting Event (AIME) fair in Australia from February 8 to 13, as well as the South Asia's Travel and Tourism Exchange (SATTE) fair in India from February 15 to 22.

A programme to introduce the coastal city's tourism will be held in Ahmedabad, India, in February.

Moreover, the central city will receive a famtrip delegation of Australia between March 16 and 20, along with a delegation of the Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) from March 29 to April 1.

During those activities, the city will update foreign travel and service businesses about its destinations along with new products and services, with a specific focus on marine, MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference and Event), golf tourism, and wedding tourism.
