Da Nang puts the finishing touches on Int’l Fireworks Festival DIFF 2026
VOV.VN - With just over two weeks remaining before opening night, Da Nang is entering the final stage of preparations for the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2026 (DIFF 2026), an event expected to provide another major boost for the city’s summer tourism season.
According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, relevant agencies are simultaneously implementing plans to ensure security, traffic management, fire prevention, rescue operations and tourism supervision throughout the festival period.
At a review meeting on May 13, city authorities instructed departments and agencies to urgently complete remaining preparations, particularly in crowded areas along the Han River and within the city centre where large numbers of visitors are expected to gather.
The city’s police are coordinating with related units to establish traffic diversion plans at locations that frequently experience congestion during festival season. Meanwhile, border guards and the municipal military command are strengthening control over waterway vehicles, drones and ultralight flying devices to ensure maximum safety for the event.
The DIFF 2026 grandstand, which will accommodate more than 10,000 spectators each night, is currently being constructed on schedule. Organisers said all safety and fire prevention items are expected to complete final inspection procedures before May 27.
DIFF 2026 will take place from May 30 to July 11, featuring five qualifying nights and one final round. The opening night will see the Da Nang international fireworks team compete against reigning champions Jiangxi Yangfeng Art Display Co., Ltd from China under the theme “Nature”.
This year’s festival gathers 10 fireworks teams from nine countries and territories, including Vietnam, China, Italy, Germany, France, Japan, Australia, Portugal and Macau (China). Several internationally recognised names are participating, including Italy’s Martarello Group S.R.L, Japan’s Tamaya Kitahara Fireworks and Germany’s Josef Steffes – Ollig Feuerwerk GmbH.
Beyond fireworks displays, DIFF 2026 continues to position itself as a large-scale summer music festival along the Han River, featuring performances by Vietnamese artists including Ho Ngoc Ha, Ha Nhi, Nguyen Tran Trung Quan and Hoang Hai.
Alongside the fireworks competition, this year’s DIFF season will include 26 accompanying cultural and tourism activities aimed at expanding visitor experiences. New additions include a world intangible cultural heritage showcase at My Son Sanctuary and the Sun Fest event at Sun World Ba Na Hills.
According to organisers, DIFF 2026 carries the theme “Da Nang – United Horizons”, promoting the image of a youthful and dynamic Da Nang with growing international connectivity through tourism, culture and large-scale events.
In 2025, the Da Nang fireworks season attracted more than one million visitors who combined sightseeing with festival attendance. With a larger event scale and preparations launched earlier than previous years, the city expects visitor numbers during DIFF 2026 to continue growing.
