Da Nang promotes tourism in Japan

VOV.VN - The Da Nang Department of Tourism has recently launched a scheme aimed at introducing Da Nang as a tourist destination in the Japanese market, whilst seeking to strengthen connectivity to Japanese travel partners.

The purpose of this move is to enhance the exchange of tourists among the two markets following a two year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Japan represents one of Da Nang’s top five international tourist markets, with the number of Japanese visitors to the city growing steadily.

In 2019 there were 183,000 Japanese arrivals to the central city and 127,000 arrivals to Japan via Da Nang International Airport.

The nation has recently introduced a number of important policies in a bid to attract international visitors and restore the tourism economy, including the reopening of borders and removing pandemic control measures, as well as unilaterally exempting visas until 2025 for citizens of 13 countries, including Japan.

At present, Da Nang has reached 100% vaccine coverage for people over 18 years old, especially those who work in the tourism industry.

Nguyen Xuan Binh, deputy director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, said that there is great demand among Japanese tourists for resorts, with a characteristics of travelers from the Far East nation being high spending levels and early booking plans.

Binh pointed out that apart from markets such as Japan and the Republic of Korea, as well as Southeast Asian markets such as Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, the local tourism sector plans to strengthen promotional activities in emerging markets like India and Southwest Asian countries.

He said the central city is willing to support businesses and airlines to connect and launch flights to Da Nang in the near future.
