Da Nang aims to develop river tourism services

VOV.VN - The central coastal city of Da Nang has called for further investment in the city’s river and sea tourism services for the 2019 to 2021 period, with the aim of creating unique tourism products capable of serving visitors.

Nguyen Xuan Binh, deputy director of Da Nang city’s department of tourism, said the municipal People’s Committee has issued a development plan regarding destinations, tourism products, and services to serve the domestic maritime route in the 2019 to 2021 period. In total, the plans focus on eight major waterway routes.

For example, the Han river - Tran Thi Ly bridge route will focus on beverage and shopping services while the Han river - Son Tra peninsula route will add restaurants, camp sites, and scuba diving services for tourists through which they can enjoy the area’s coral reefs.

The Cam Le - Tuy Loan - Thai Lai route is hoping for investment in order to transform La Huong vegetable village into an eco-tourism destination.

Mr Binh noted that Da Nang city has already called on businesses to inject money into building additional ships that can serve as accommodation at night in Da Nang’s bay in order to diversify the range of options available for visitors.

In recent years, the number of tourists participating in river tours has increased sharply with 350,000 in 2017, more than 550,000 in 2018, whilst the year’s first quarter had over 200,000, an increase of 57 per cent against the same period last year.

The market segment for river tourism is largely made up of foreign tourists, accounting for 90 per cent of overall figures.
