Central localities promote tourism, seek air connectivity with RoK
VOV.VN - Hue City and Quang Tri province, central Vietnam on January 29 hosted a Hue–Quang Tri tourism promotion programme while promoting plans to develop air connectivity in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK).
The event was attended by Vietnamese Ambassador to the RoK Vu Ho, along with a Hue City delegation led by Nguyen Thanh Binh, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee. RoK guests included Lee Jin Seok, Vice Chairman of the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA), and Jeon Sung Joon, Director of the Korea Outbound Tourism Association. Numerous tourism and aviation businesses, as well as media representatives from both countries, were also present.
In his speech, Nguyen Thanh Binh said the programme aimed to promote central Vietnam – with Hue and Quang Tri at its core – as a destination offering a range of experiences, rich cultural identity, scenic natural landscapes and professional tourism services, while supporting cooperation between Vietnamese and RoK tourism enterprises.
He said the programme provided an opportunity to build broader cooperation between Hue City and Quang Tri province and RoK authorities and partners in tourism, culture and economic development. In recent years, the number of RoK visitors to the two localities has recorded positive growth. In this context, efforts to boost direct air services between Hue, Quang Tri and the RoK are of particular importance in developing Hue–Quang Tri as a destination for the Korean market.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Vu Ho described Hue as a city with distinctive historical depth and cultural character. With the Perfume River flowing through its centre, Hue offers a slow-paced yet contemplative atmosphere characteristic of the former imperial capital.
The city attracts visitors not through bustle but through refined experiences, including imperial cuisine and the elegance of its traditional purple Ao dai (traditional long dress). These qualities, he said, are increasingly rare in modern life.
As a result, visitors come to Hue for a reflective experience that leaves lasting memories of a place where history, culture, nature and people are closely intertwined.
During the programme, the tourism sectors of Hue and Quang Tri presented their key strengths and potential, including long coastlines and world-recognised cultural and natural heritage sites designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), such as the Complex of Hue Monuments and Nha Nhac-Vietnamese Court Music, along with Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park and Tan Hoa tourism village. A wide range of tourism products, from high-end resorts, golf and wellness services to cultural and culinary experiences, were introduced as distinctive offerings of the two localities.
Within a radius of 250 kilometres, both Hue City and Quang Tri province have their own airports ,Phu Bai International Airport in Hue and Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Tri, facilitating connections with major RoK cities and supporting the operation of both charter and commercial international flights.
The first charter flight from the RoK to Hue this year is expected to be launched by late March, with regular services planned thereafter.
The programme also featured activities to promote and develop local tourism, including presentations on destinations, events, festivals, tourism products and services, particularly travel stimulus programmes; screenings of promotional films on destinations, culture, tourism and OCOP products; and B2B networking spaces for tourism enterprises to exchange information, present and market tourism products and services, and sign cooperation agreements.
Ten tourism businesses from Hue and Quang Tri attended the event, introduced their tourism products and connected with partners in Seoul and Busan. The meetings opened up cooperation opportunities in tour operations, golf tourism and all-inclusive Halal travel packages.
With modern tourism infrastructure, professional services, diverse tourism products and plans to expand international air connectivity, Hue and Quang Tri are reinforcing their position as leading destinations in central Vietnam for both RoK and international visitors.
The tourism promotion and air connectivity programme in Seoul opens up prospects for sustainable cooperation as a contribution to turning central Vietnam into an attractive destination for the RoK and international visitors.
