CAAV extends night flight operations at six airports for Lunar New Year 2026
VOV.VN - The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has issued an official dispatch to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM), requesting the implementation of a night-flight operating plan at the six airports.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has decided to extend night flight operations at six domestic airports during the Lunar New Year 2026 travel period, in addition to airports that already operate on a 24-hour basis.
The decision was sent to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) and the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) to prepare for rising passenger demand during the Tet holiday and the 2026 spring festival season.
The extended operations are based on adjustments to winter 2025 flight slot parameters requested by airlines, allowing additional night flights to be scheduled from February 1 to March 1, 2026.
Under the plan, night flight operations will be expanded at six airports, including Tho Xuan, Dong Hoi, Chu Lai, Phu Cat, Pleiku and Tuy Hoa. CAAV has instructed ACV and VATM to coordinate with airlines and on-site service providers to ensure adequate staffing and smooth operations during the period.
To supplement capacity during the holiday peak, Vietnam Airlines has added nearly 300 domestic flights, providing about 60,000 additional seats, mainly on routes connecting Ho Chi Minh City with major destinations nationwide.
Low-cost carrier Vietjet has also announced a capacity increase, offering around 390,000 additional seats through nearly 1,800 supplementary flights on high-demand domestic routes before and after the Tet holiday.
