Doosan Vina celebrates the 10th anniversary, receives PM’s Award

Doosan Vina celebrated the 10th anniversary of its establishment (November 20, 2006 – November 20, 2016) and held a ceremony to receive the Prime Minister’s Award for contribution to socio-economic development of Quang Ngai Province over the past 10 years.

The event welcomed more than 400 representatives of Vietnamese and Korean authorities, Doosan Corporation, business partners and clients. Delivering speech at the ceremony, on behalf of the company’s board of management and all of its staff, general director of Doosan Vina Yeon In Jung expressed his speacial thanks to the prime minister, leaders of ministries of Vietnam and departments of Quang Ngai for appreciating the contribution of Doosan Vina to socio-economic development of Quang Ngai province, and for their support over the last 10 years. 

The investment certificate of Doosan Vina was granted at Dung Quat Economic Zone on November 20, 2006, with total investment capital of $300 million on a site of above 110 hectare of land.

Since 2006, Doosan Vina has manufactured and provided products for more than 197 projects with total value of billions of US dollars and total exports of around 350,000 tonnes. Products with the label “Made in Vietnam” manufactured by Doosan Vina now appear in 28 countries and territories over the world. 

Espeacially, the enterprise’s boilers have attributed approximately 11,180MW into the world’s grid. Besides, its desalination plants can produce 776 million litres of fresh water per day, meeting the domestic needs of more than 2.5 million people a day. Twelve giant cranes produced by the enterprise are now operating in several ports around the world.

In addition to manufacturing and trading, Doosan Vina has paid attention to social activities to build healthy communities as well. Since the day of its establishment in Quang Ngai, the enterprise has spent more than $5.6 million on its Coperate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the local community. 

CSR programs of Doosan Vina focus on three areas of education, healthcare and housing. In terms of healthcare, Doosan Vina cooperated with Chung Ang University Medical School (CAU) from Korea, to provide free medical services and checkups for over 16,000 local patients and donate over 2.6 million multivitamins for malnourished kids. 

Doosan Vina has presented annual scholarships and provided facilies to universities in the region with total value up to $250,000. The enterprise also built and repaired 27 houses for low-income households and the elderly. In addition, Doosan Vina donated a seawater desalination plant worth nearly a million US dollars to the island community of Ly Son and tranferred technology to the national archery team in five years, and other charity programs.

The missions of Doosan Vina in Vietnam is to preserve environment, secure labour safety, sustain technology tranfer and experience exchange for Vietnamese entrepreneurs, helping them to lead the domestic mechanical sector.

Right after the 10th anniversary celebration, the 6th One Mind Festival, the company’s annual daylong event featuring games, sport and entertainment competitions, took place under an exciting atmosphere, including various  sport competitions,  entertainment performances, and the day lucky draws with the grand prize of two motorbikes.
