The Ho Chi Minh City Association of Mechanical – Electrical Enterprises (HAMEE), in collaboration with the Vietnam Trade Office in the US and the Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC), recently organised a Vietnam-US trade promotion forum on smart technology.

A US trade delegation of 100 participants, including 35 business representatives and officials from the departments of agriculture of nine states, is visiting Vietnam to explore cooperation opportunities between the two countries.

On the back of the newly-signed Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the US, American exporters are setting their sights on delivering a wider range of agricultural products to Vietnamese consumers.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien held a working session with US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo in New York recently, on the occasion of a working trip to attend the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly and bilateral activities.

The historic Vietnam visit by US President Joe Biden and the upgrade of bilateral relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership will create unprecedented opportunities to promote new and breakthrough cooperation areas, and to build Vietnam’s capacity to truly join the global value chains, said Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien.

The Vietnam – US trade relations are enjoying strong growth after the US concluded its investigation related to Section 301 into Vietnam’s alleged import and use of timber illegally harvested or traded, and removed Vietnam from its currency manipulation list, said Trade Counsellor of Vietnam in the US Do Ngoc Hung.

Vietnam considers the US and the state of Nebraska in particular one of the important partners, wishing for stable and progressive economic and trade relations to deepen bilateral comprehensive partnership in a substantive manner, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai told Governor of Nebraska Jim Pillen during a working session in Hanoi on July 13.

The current trends in economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and the US guarantee big growth in two-way trade and investment in next 10 years and warrant upgrading the partnership to a strategic level, said Ted Osius, President and CEO of the US - ASEAN Business Council (USABC).

Taking full advantage of Vietnam's numerous free trade agreements (FTAs) and rolling out measures to promote trade are keys to boosting the country's export in the future, said the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT).
