The launch of a direct air route between Vietnam and the US is an important milestone reflecting the strong growth of the bilateral relations and helping boost Vietnam’s economy and cultural exchange, said Vietnamese Deputy Consul General in San Francisco Hoang Huu Anh.

Vietnam Airlines, the country's national flag carrier, looks to dominate the Vietnam-US route as preparations have been completed for its first direct flight to the US, which is scheduled to take off on November 28, said General Director of Vietnam Airlines Le Hong Ha.

The relations between Vietnam and the US would continue to grow stably in the time ahead, with economic and trade cooperation the centre and key momentum of the bilateral ties, Vietnamese and US officials said.

The US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has officially confirmed that Vietnam Airlines meets all security requirements to operate a regular commercial direct flights to the US from October 25, the national flag carrier announced on November 1.

Vietnam welcomes the US Government’s strong commitment and practical actions to strengthen its cooperation with and support for Mekong countries, notably the donation of millions of doses of vaccines and many medical equipment serving COVID-19 prevention and control in the region.
