Vietnam’s aquatic export is hoped to hit US$9 billion in 2021 thanks to the recovery of consumption in key markets such as the US, the European Union (EU), and other potential markets.

Vietnam earned US$790 million from exporting aquatic products in May, lifting the total figure in the first five months of this year to nearly US$3.3 billion, a year-on-year rise of 14%.

Vietnam is expected to make breakthroughs in exporting aquatic products in the coming time thanks to its good performance of biological safety, and benefits brought by free trade agreements (FTAs), according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Vietnam’s seafood export turnover in the first 11 months of 2020 hit US$7.75 billion, down 0.9% from the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
