Vietnam’s exports of squid and octopus reached more than US$111 million in the first two months of 2026, up 23% year on year, reflecting a positive start for the sector and early signs of recovering demand across several markets.

Vietnam will likely see a decline in seafood exports for this year although market prospects are better than last year's end, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Vietnam pocketed US$890 million from exporting tuna in the first 10 months of this year – the highest-ever figure, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

The growth of processed seafood output in Vietnam will reach over 6% a year by 2030 under a national seafood processing development strategy for 2021-2030 which has been approved by the Prime Minister.

Vietnam has recorded continual growth in squid and octopus exports to China over the last three years, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
