Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung has signed a decision ratifying the programme implementing Project 06 on developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation for 2026–2030, with a vision to 2035.
A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Minister of Public Security Nguyen Duy Ngoc had a working session in the Netherlands on December 12 with representatives from the National Office for Identity Data, Logius - digital government service, and the Digital Society Department under the Dutch Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK).
A project debuted on May 5 to support Vietnamese agencies in producing and utilising quality population data for the formulation and implementation of socio-economic development policies, strategies, and programmes.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on March 2 demanded accelerating implementation of the project on developing and applying the population data and electronic identification and authentication to serve national digital transformation.
The national population data centre and the system for making, granting, and managing citizen identity cards made debut on June 22, and they will officially come into operation on July 1.
