Marine aquaculture plays a crucial role in reducing pressure on natural exploitation, increasing oceanic value, biodiversity, and promoting sustainable development, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan said on April 1.

A seminar themed "Norway-Vietnam: Strengthening Cooperation in Maritime Aquaculture" was held in Nha Trang city, the central province of Khanh Hoa on June 5.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has recently signed Decision No.1664/QD-TTg approving a project on marine aquaculture development till 2030 with a vision to 2045.

A webinar on promoting the development of industrial-scale marine aquaculture in Vietnam was jointly held on May 21 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Embassy of Norway in Vietnam, Innovation Norway, and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

Vietnam is to have 280,000 ha of marine aquaculture area and 10.5 million cubic metres of farming cages by 2025, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
