VOV.VN - The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in collaboration with the administration of Quang Ninh province held a meeting on June 1 to celebrate World Environment Day (June 5) and launch the Month of Action for the Environment 2025 themed “Beat Plastic Pollution.”

A two-day workshop on marine environmental protection and sustainable blue economy has been held in Con Dao, the southern province of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Worldwide Fund (WWF), and the provincial People’s Committee.

Plastic waste in Vietnam does not remain stationary but moves from inland areas and rivers to the coast, posing serious economic and environmental threats, especially to fisheries and tourism.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has proposed a new green e-commerce law amid concerns over 800,000 tonnes of plastic waste in 2030.

Together with other countries in the world, Vietnam has been taking actions to reduce plastic waste and the use of single-use plastic bags, towards a plastic bag free community.

In order to address the growing issue of pollution, Ho Chi Minh City has been launching various joint dissemination campaigns and activities with businesses to encourage its dwellers to reduce the use of single-use or non-degradable plastic bags, and collect and recycle plastic waste.

VOV.VN - The fourth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-4) on plastic waste was held in Ottawa in Canada on April 23, with the event featuring the participation of negotiators from 176 countries, including Vietnam.
