VOV.VN - The Vietnamese Government has initiated plans to begin construction of a North-South high-speed rail route by 2030 and put it into operation by 2045.
VOV.VN - China considers Vietnam a priority partner in its overall periphery diplomacy, Chinese President and Party General Secretary Xi Jinping told Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh in Beijing on June 27.
Various actions have been taken to bring a new face for the Vietnamese railway system in the future.
Vietnam will add 18 new routes, 1,528km in total length, to its national railway network by 2050, according to a draft planning for the 2021 – 2030 period, with a vision towards 2050.
The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has proposed total investment of VND240 trillion (US$10.4 billion) for the expansion of the railway network from now until 2030, to be sourced by the State budget and other legal sources.
Due to Vietnam’s natural features and geography, the development of a high-speed railway is imperative and any delays will hinder socio-economic growth, Chairman of Vietnam Railways Vu Anh Minh has said.
