VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has ordered a nationwide launch of land acquisition for the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong standard-gauge railway project and the North–South high-speed railway project on August 19, with a deadline set no later than the end of 2026.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on July 9 called on ministries, sectors, and local authorities to take active and responsible roles in carrying out national key railway projects, delaying or evading responsibility to ensure that assigned tasks are swiftly translated into concrete actions and legal documents.

VOV.VN - The Government has submitted a proposal to the National Assembly, recommending the inclusion of private investment in the ambitious North–South high-speed railway project, a move aimed at broadening business participation in one of the country’s most significant infrastructure undertakings.

Vietnamese industrial conglomerate Truong Hai Group Corporation (Truong Hai Group) has submitted a formal proposal to the Prime Minister to invest more than VND1.56 trillion (some US$61.35 billion) in the country’s high-speed railway linking Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

VinSpeed High-Speed Rail Investment and Development JSC on May 14 officially announced its registration to invest in Vietnam’s North–South high-speed railway project, with an estimated investment of VND1.562 quadrillion (or US$61.35 billion), excluding costs related to compensation, relocation support.

VOV.VN - The proposal to adopt special mechanisms allowing Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the North–South high-speed railway project is seen as essential to promoting technological self-reliance and enabling domestic mastery of high-speed rail systems.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh urged ministries, agencies, and localities to act with “greater speed and boldness” to carry out Vietnam’s railway projects at the second meeting of the Steering Committee for key national railway projects in Hanoi on April 26.

The Government on April 23 issued Resolution No. 106/NQ-CP that details the roadmap for implementing the North – South high-speed railway project, requesting all necessary conditions be completed to commence construction no later than December 31, 2026.

Efforts are being ramped up to fast-track three railway projects linking Vietnam and China, with the aim of making them symbolic project in bilateral cooperation, according to the Ministry of Construction.
