VOV.VN - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested that relevant ministries, agencies and localities to promptly prevent practices of smuggling and trade in contraband and counterfeit goods that have grabbed domestic headlines in recent times.

The National Steering Committee against Smuggling, Counterfeit Goods, and Trade Fraud (National Steering Committee 389) on April 10 issued a document calling for stringent enforcement against goods origin fraud.

Economists underlined the need for Vietnamese Government and businesses to apply measures to adapt to the new tariff policy of the US to maintain growth during a meeting held by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade on April 8.

The US Trade Representative (USTR) office has blacklisted Vietnam's well-known markets in its 2020 review, for reasons of counterfeiting goods. Dong Xuan Market in Hanoi and Ben Thanh Market in HCM City have been named on the USTR blacklist.

The General Department for Market Surveillance has shown determination in the fight against counterfeit goods and trade fraud products in e-commerce channels.

The industry and trade sector will ensure enough essential consumer goods to meet shopping needs and promote market surveillance to prevent goods smuggling ahead of the traditional lunar new year holiday, the Tet, an official has said.
