Young Vietnamese talent clinches gold at Thailand Open Athletics Championships

VOV.VN - Vietnam claimed its first gold medal at the 2025 Thailand Open Track & Field Championships on June 22, with Nguyen Khanh Linh delivering a strong finish in the women’s 1,500m.

Linh topped the 10-athlete field with a time of 4:30.74. Nimall of Sri Lanka came in second at 4:32.39, followed by Malaysia’s Savinder Singh with 4:38.30.

Later the same day, Vietnam added two silver medals: Le Thi Kim Dung placed second in the women’s discus with a throw of 49.97m, while Dinh Thanh Nhan finished runner-up in the men’s hammer throw with 55.99m.

The tournament, running from June 20 to 26, serves as a key warm-up for Vietnam’s 12-member squad ahead of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33), which Thailand will host from December 9 to 20.
