Women’s handball team to face with Thailand at 2026 Asian Beach Games
VOV.VN - The Olympic Council of Asia and the Games’ organising committee have completed the official draw for all beach handball events at the 2026 Asian Beach Games.
Vietnam will compete only in the women’s event. The team has been placed in Group A alongside the Philippines, Hong Kong (China) and Thailand. Group B comprises hosts China, India, Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and Mongolia.
The draw, held on March 18, also covered three sports drawn earlier: beach handball (men’s and women’s), beach soccer, and beach kabaddi (men’s and women’s). Vietnam is represented in the women’s beach handball event among these early-draw disciplines.
The Vietnamese women’s beach handball team will also compete at the 2026 World Championship in Croatia. The side currently hold the title of Asian champions.
The 2026 Asian Beach Games will take place from April 22 to 30 in China, featuring 14 sports with 15 disciplines.
The Sports Authority of Vietnam and relevant teams are finalising preparations for the Games. The previous edition was held a decade ago, when Vietnam hosted the 2016 Asian Beach Games and topped the medal table with 52 gold, 44 silver and 43 bronze medals.
