Vietnam women’s beach handball team earn berth at 2026 World Championships
VOV.VN - Vietnam’s women’s beach handball team have earned a place at the 2026 IHF Beach Handball World Championships, which will take place in Zagreb, Croatia, from June 23 to 28.
The Vietnam Handball Federation said the team received an official berth from the International Handball Federation (IHF) for the tournament.
The competition will feature 16 national teams. So far, nine teams have been confirmed: Croatia (host), Germany (defending champions), Vietnam, Philippines, Spain, Norway, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Greece. The remaining places will be decided in regional competitions.
Vietnam secured the World Championship berth after winning the 2025 Asian Women’s Beach Handball Championship.
At the continental tournament held in Oman, Vietnam defeated the Philippines 2-0 in the final to claim the gold medal, marking the team’s third consecutive Asian title. The team also won the championship in 2022 and 2023.
The 2026 Men’s Beach Handball World Championship will be held at the same time in Croatia, but Vietnam’s men’s team are not among the participants.
