Women’s futsal team secures bronze at ASEAN championship
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women’s futsal team claimed the bronze medal at the 2026 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship after defeating Indonesia 4-1 in the third-place match in Thailand on March 2.
The side coached by Nguyen Dinh Hoang controlled the early stages and applied sustained pressure. Nguyet Vi threatened with a shot following a corner kick.
Bien Thi Hang, Thu Xuan and Thanh Ngan continued to test the Indonesian defence with long-range efforts, while Indonesia also mounted several attacks. Goalkeeper Tran Thi Trang made a crucial save in the 11th minute to keep the score level. The first half ended 0-0.
Indonesia took the lead in the 21st minute through Nisman. Vietnam responded three minutes later as Thanh Ngan levelled the score.
Thuy Trang restored the advantage in the 26th minute with a powerful long-range strike to make it 2-1. Bien Thi Hang extended the lead to 3-1 in the 27th minute. Phuong Anh added a fourth goal in the 38th minute, sealing a 4-1 victory.
The Vietnamese women’s futsal team finished third at the regional tournament, providing added momentum toward other goals in 2026.
