Vietnam took the lead in the second minute when Thu Xuan followed up after a shot from Bien Thi Hang. Thailand equalised two minutes later through Arktla.

In the 10th minute, Bubpha finished at the near post to put Thailand ahead. Vietnam pushed forward for the remainder of the first half in search of an equaliser but could not find the net.

Early in the second half, Vietnam continued to press and created several chances. However, before finding a way back into the game, they conceded again as Thailand extended the lead.

In the 33rd minute, Bubpha scored from close range after the ball rebounded off the post. A minute later, Arriya added Thailand’s fourth. Thanh Ngan pulled one back for Vietnam in the 35th minute.

Vietnam were unable to score again and suffered a 4-2 defeat. They will face Indonesia in the third-place match on March 2.
