Women’s Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers: Vietnam beat hosts Myanmar 5-1 in opener
VOV.VN - Vietnam made an impressive start in the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers by clinching a landslide 5-1 victory over hosts Myanmar on January 15 evening.
Just eight minutes into the match, the Vietnamese took a 2-0 lead with goals from K'Thua and Phuong Anh. Three minutes later, Tran Thi Thu Xuan extended the lead to 3-0 with a direct shot from outside the penalty area.
However, a moment of carelessness allowed Myanmar to score their first goal. Ya Min Thant Zin showcased her skill by lifting the ball over the head of the Vietnamese goalkeeper, narrowing the score to 3-1.
Just before the first half ended, Phuong Anh again skillfully tapped the ball into the net, making it 4-1 for Vietnam.
After the break, although Vietnamese players opted to slow down the pace, they managed to score another goal in the 34th minute, sealing the 5-1 victory.
With the win, Vietnam currently stand in second place in Group D, trailing Taiwan (China) on goal difference, who defeated Macau (China) 18-0 in their previous match.
On January 17, Vietnam will take on Macau, while Myanmar will clash with Taiwan.
The 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers feature four groups, with two groups consisting of four teams and two groups of five teams. The top two teams from each group, along with the third-placed team with the best record, will advance to the finals in China in May, along with hosts China, Iran, and Japan (defending champions and runners-up).
