Vietnamese players in Myanmar for AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers
VOV.VN - The Vietnam women’s futsal team coached by Nguyen Dinh Hoang departed for Myanmar on January 13 to compete in the qualifying round of the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup.
The Vietnam Football Federation announced the official roster for the qualifiers, with 14 players in good form for the coming games, said Hoang.
During the qualifiers to be held from January 15 to 19, Vietnam will play in the same group alongside Macau (China), Taiwan (China) and Myanmar. They are scheduled to take on Myanmar on January 15, Macau on January 17 and Taiwan two days later.
Coach Hoang emphasized that the team’s goal is not only to advance past the qualifiers but also to secure top position in their group.
“We believe our opponents are not significantly stronger than us, so my team and I are determined to achieve our set objectives,” said the coach ahead of the departure, expressing his confidence in the team’s abilities.
The Vietnam women’s futsal team have achieved notable success in regional and international competitions. For the AFF Women’s Futsal Championship, they have secured second place several times, often competing fiercely against Thailand, the strongest team in the region.
In Asia, Vietnam regularly compete in the finals and perform well in the group stages, though they face challenges against strong teams like Iran, Japan, and Thailand. They have reached the quarterfinals in several editions.
