Women volleyballers head to Indonesia for U21 World Championship
VOV.VN - Vietnamese players departed for Surabaya city, Indonesia, on August 5 to compete in the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's U21 World Championship for the first time.

Head coach Nguyen Trong Linh expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and determination, stating that the players are ready to deliver their best performance at the tournament.
“This is the first time our young athletes are competing on a world stage, so there will naturally be some nerves. But we believe they will gain valuable experience and show strong spirit,” he said.
Vietnam secured a place in this year’s World Championship after finishing fifth at the 2024 Asian U20 Championship in China. The milestone victory against Chinese Taipei in that tournament earned Vietnam an official berth at the U21 global event for the first time in history.
After months of focused training, including international exposure at tournaments such as the Vietnam International Women’s Volleyball Tournament in Phu Tho and the Shanghai Future Stars 2025 in China, coach Nguyen Trong Linh has selected the 12 strongest players from a pool of 18 for the world competition.
Indonesia will host the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women's U21 World Championship from August 7 to 17 in Surabaya.
Playing in Group A, Vietnam are to take on Indonesia, Serbia, Canada, Argentina, and Puerto Rico on August 7, August 8, August 9, August 11, and August 12, respectively.
A total of 24 teams from around the world will compete in the tournament. They will compete in a round robin to select the four teams with the best results to advance to the knockout round.
Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand represent Southeast Asia at the tournament.
