Weightlifters to vie for Southeast Asian medals in Singapore

VOV.VN - Vietnamese athletes will depart for Singapore to compete in the Southeast Asian weightlifting championships which will be held from June 11 to June 16.

Several of the Vietnamese athletes go into the tournament with high hopes of winning medals, including Tran Minh Tri in the men's 67kg category who won a gold medal at the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2025 in China back in May.

Elsewhere, Pham Thi Hong Thanh, who broke three records at the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) and bagged three gold medals at the 2022 Asian Weightlifting Championships, will represent Vietnam at the women's 64kg category of the tournament this year.

The country will send a total of 12 athletes to the tournament, with the event serving as an important warm-up event for athletes ahead of the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33) which will be held in Thailand from December 9 to December 20.
