Vietnamese young chess players to compete at world championships
VOV.VN - As many as 15 talented young Vietnamese chess masters have registered to participate in the FIDE World Cadet Championships, which is scheduled to be held from October 14 to October 27 in Sharm El Sheikh of Egypt.
The competition will see the local competitors join the U8, U10, and U12 age groups.
Among the outstanding participants are Dau Khuong Duy, Tong Thai Hoang An, and Le Phan Hoang Quan.
Duy won a World Junior Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship's U12 title in June in Georgia, while An was a silver medalist of the Georgian world championship's U12 Girls category.
Furthermore, Quan won five gold medals from the Southeast Asian Age Groups Chess Championship in June in Thailand.
According to the coaching board of the young Vietnamese chess team, the competition will offer a golden opportunity for local players to showcase their talent and exchange experiences with other foreign rivals.
The players are to compete in standard chess category and are aiming to win medals at the tournament.
