Vietnamese wushu team wins two golds at World Taijiquan Championships
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese wushu team has won two gold medals in the first two days of the 2026 World Taijiquan Championships in Bulgaria.
The team made a strong start, securing two gold, one silver and five bronze medals after two days of competition, an achievement at the highest-level event dedicated to Taijiquan.
Nguyen Le Chi won gold in the women’s Yang-style Taijiquan with 9.170 points, while Nguyen Thi Minh Tam took gold in the women’s Chen-style Taijiquan with 9.346 points. Minh Tam also won a bronze medal in the women’s Sun-style Taijiquan.
Pham Nguyen Hoai Nam claimed the team’s only silver medal in the men’s Chen-style Taijiquan.
Other bronze medals went to Nguyen Thanh Van and Chu Tue Anh, both in the women’s Chen-style Taijiquan, and Nguyen Khac Le Hoang in the men’s Chen-style Taijiquan.
The 5th World Taijiquan Championships opened on April 23 and runs through April 30, bringing together 342 athletes, coaches and officials from 38 countries and territories.
The event is one of six official tournaments of the International Wushu Federation (IWUF), held every two years since 2014. This year’s competition features two main categories: competitive and demonstration.
