Vietnamese women's volleyball team up in world rankings

VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women’s national volleyball team has reached its highest-ever position in the FIVB world rankings, climbing to 31st place with 112.73 points, according to the latest update.

This milestone comes after Croatia, previously ranked 31st, suffered a defeat to Slovakia on May 31 in the 2025 European Golden League, resulting in a 4.93-point deduction that allowed Vietnam to overtake them in the standings.

The rise in rankings is expected to provide a morale boost for the Vietnamese team as they prepare to compete in the 2025 AVC Challenge Cup, set to take place from June 7 to 14 at Dong Anh Gymnasium, Hanoi.

At the tournament, Vietnam have been placed in Group A, alongside Australia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (China), and India. Group B features Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Iran, Indonesia, Mongolia, and New Zealand.

Due to the participation of 11 teams, the tournament format has been adjusted. Teams will compete in a round-robin group stage, with the top four teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.

Performance at the tournament will impact teams’ FIVB world rankings, and the champion will earn a spot in the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championship.
