Vietnamese women’s football team given VND1.5 billion for success at SEA Games
VOV.VN - The Vietnamese women’s national football team have been awarded VND1.5 billion in bonuses following their progression to the semi-final round of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2019.
The reward comes after the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) had previously awarded the women’s national team VND500 million following their 1-1 drew with Thailand in the opening match of the regional tournament.
As the reigning champions following their victory in the women’s football event at the SEA Games 29, the Vietnamese women are one of the favourites competing in the SEA Games 30. They lived up to this in their second group stage match as they thrashed Indonesia 6-0 on November 29.
This resounding win ensured that the team, led by head coach Mai Duc Chung, progressed to the competition’s semi-final round. With two matches played, the Vietnamese team have so far won four points, whilst scoring seven goals and conceding just one.
Securing their place in the semi-final round of the SEA Games was enough for the VFF to deliver another bonus of VND500 million.
In a bid to encourage the players to continue their efforts and keep their motivation to win a gold medal, Pham Thanh Hung, the VFF’s head of women’s football, gave the squad an additional bonus of VND500 million, raising the total amount rewarded to the women’s national team at the SEA Games 30 to VND1.5 billion.
